A Fresh Take on Thanksgiving Desserts

Thanksgiving Desserts with a Delicious Twist

As we move into Thanksgiving week, I know many of us are juggling menus, timelines, and last-minute decisions, so let’s make dessert the easy part!

Instead of sticking solely to the usual suspects, this year I’m sharing 10 festive sweets that blend tradition with a bit of creativity. You’ll find chocolate-rich pecan pie, pumpkin dressed up with rum and paired with a gingery crust, and a brand-new French Apple Tarte Tatin that just might become your next signature dessert. Whether you’re in the mood for something nostalgic or something unexpected, there’s plenty here to inspire your holiday table.

10 Dessert Ideas to Mix, Match, and Enjoy

1.Pumpkin Chiffon Pie

Light, airy, and beautifully spiced, this chiffon-style pie is a longtime family favorite I’ve made for years.

2. Pumpkin Tart

A grown-up twist on pumpkin pie with a ginger crust and a hint of rum. Elegant enough for a special dinner.

3. Pumpkin Pots de Crème

Silky, spoonable, and perfect for making ahead. A lovely alternative to traditional pie.

4. Chocolate Pecan Pie

A classic made even better with the addition of chocolate chips. Rich, gooey, and delicious, this one converts even the “I don’t like pecan pie” people.

5. Pecan Pie Bars

All the flavor of our chocolate pecan pie, in an easy, make-ahead bar cookie. Perfect for dessert platters or serving alongside pies or tarts.

6. Apple Tarte Tatin (New!)

My newest dessert recipe: deeply caramelized apples baked under pastry, then flipped over to reveal a stunning, glossy finish.

7. Apple Cake

Moist, warmly spiced, and studded with fresh apples. An easy, crowd-pleasing cake recipe from my mom.

8. Cheesecake Stuffed Apples

A cozy baked apple dessert with a surprise cheesecake filling and caramel on top - nostalgic, fun, and irresistibly good.

9. Sticky Ginger Cake

A cozy, less-traditional Thanksgiving dessert with deep ginger flavor and a tender crumb.

10, Sweet Potato Soufflé

A gently spiced, airy soufflé with just the right touch of brandy. Can also be served as a side dish.

Thanksgiving is all about sharing good food, good company, and the moments that turn into memories. This year, I’m especially grateful for my family, friends, and all of you. Thank you for welcoming my recipes into your kitchens and your celebrations.
Wishing you a holiday filled with warmth, laughter - and plenty of dessert!

Take care,

My Versions of the Masters Menu Favorites The Masters Tournament begins today at Augusta National Golf Club. It’s a sporting event steeped in tradition, from the iconic green jacket to the fact that it's played the same weekend, on the same historic course, every year. So why does a food blogger who doesn’t play golf love the Masters? Because that same sense of tradition extends to the food. The Augusta menu has remained virtually unchanged for decades; it's famously simple and subtly...

collage of 4 dishes to serve while watching March Madness

Game-Worthy Recipes for March Madness Weekend I never paid much attention to basketball until I married Robert, but now, I’m completely hooked. Every year, we start watching the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament from the very beginning and follow it through to the Final Four and championship game. It’s the perfect excuse to settle in, watch some incredibly exciting match ups, mix up a good cocktail, and enjoy delicious food. Instead of typical heavier game-day fare, I like to serve dishes that...
