Labor Day Recipes for One Last Taste of Summer

One Last Taste of Summer

Labor Day weekend always feels like one last chance to enjoy the best of summer cooking - firing up the grill, eating outside, and making the most of late-summer produce.

So this week, I’m sharing a mix of recipes that are just right for the long weekend: a few easy grilled favorites, fresh seasonal salads, and a dessert you can make ahead. Whether you’re hosting, heading to a cookout, or just enjoying a quieter dinner at home, there’s something here to help you make the most of these last days of summer.

Recipes

Grilled Pork Chops with Bourbon Mushroom Sauce

Tender, juicy pork chops are topped with a rich mushroom sauce infused with the smoky warmth of bourbon, then finished with crispy bacon and fresh herbs. It’s a rustically elegant main dish that comes together in just 45 minutes.

Grilled Tarragon Chicken Salad

Butterflied chicken breasts are marinated with fresh tarragon, rosemary, garlic, olive oil, and vinegar, then grilled and served over a colorful salad of rotini pasta, spring greens, tomatoes, and pecans. A Pecan-Tarragon Pesto Dressing ties all those fresh summer flavors together.

Turkey Burgers with Lemon-Green Onion Sauce

These aren’t your ordinary turkey burgers. Sundried tomatoes are tucked right into the burgers, then they’re topped with a bright, zesty Lemon-Green Onion Sauce for loads of flavor in every bite.

Grilled Peach and Fresh Mozzarella Salad

Sweet grilled peaches seasoned with cinnamon, sugar, and lemon are paired with creamy fresh mozzarella, baby arugula, and toasted almonds. The combination of sweet, savory, creamy, and crunchy makes this a colorful late-summer side that feels a little special.

Fresh Tomato Salad with Cumin Dressing

Sweet, ripe summer tomatoes are paired with a warm, earthy cumin dressing that contrasts with their natural sweetness and brings out even more of their flavor. It’s a fresh and unexpected way to enjoy tomatoes while they’re still at their seasonal best.

Blueberry Delight Cake

This moist cake is packed with juicy blueberries and topped with a cinnamon-nutmeg crumb topping. Melted butter and milk keep the cake especially tender, while just the right amount of sugar lets the blueberry flavor shine.

However you’re spending the weekend, I hope there’s delicious food on the table and ample time to enjoy these last days of summer with family and friends.

Wishing you a happy and delicious Labor Day weekend!
